I recently received an e-mail from a homeschooling mom named Sharon. The daughter of a former missionary to the Communist nation of East Germany and wife of an army man stationed there years later, Sharon has a passion for homeschooling families abroad. She’s been using Apologia curriculum with her family for years and recently browsed our website.
She wrote, “I was on your website a few nights ago and noticed you send conference speakers to various countries (to speak about homeschooling). This interested me because our non-profit organization has considered doing similar work.” Sharon contacted us, wondering if there was any potential for partnership.
In my reply, I told Sharon that every endeavor we’ve done with Apologia Mission has started with someone asking the question, “Does Apologia do this sort of thing?” or “Is this the sort of thing you guys are interested in?” It all starts with an idea, with curiosity, with someone asking us the right questions.
We are currently planning a short-term mission trip in a few months to Hungary and possibly Germany. And who knows? Sharon’s inquiry may develop into an exciting partnership. If it does, we will both look back to her first e-mail and think of how important her question was and may become in someone’s life.
At Apologia Mission, we are open to new ideas. Your
ideas. Do you see a way we could be helping homeschool families serving as missionaries in the U.S. and abroad? Do you have a question that could have an eternal impact for someone halfway around the world? E-mail your thoughts to us at email@example.com
